Your donations to our food drive will help Northwest Harvest reduce hunger. Thank you! In Harmony Sustainable Landscapes

Your donations to our food drive will help Northwest Harvest reduce hunger. Thank you!

For more than 20 years we have done a food drive each fall (with a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic). Over the years our generous clients have donated more than 20 tons of food! We thank you for helping to reduce hunger in Washington state.

At In Harmony, we believe that our health and wellbeing are directly connected to the earth. Part of wellness is having good, healthy food to eat.

If you are a service client, you will receive an email this fall to remind you to leave out non-perishable food for Northwest Harvest. Our technicians will pick it up on a service visit, and we will deliver everything to the Northwest Harvest warehouse for distribution.

We hope you will join us in supporting this important cause. Donating to the food drive is only one way to help. If you are not a service client, consider donating food or dollars directly to Northwest Harvest. Whether or not you are a client, Northwest Harvest welcomes your donations of money and time. See below for more about donating, volunteering and advocating for Northwest Harvest.

Things to consider when donating food

  • Give with respect. Please only donate items that are unopened and in their original packaging. Do not donate expired, damaged or partially used products.
  • Consider the nutrient density of what you are donating. Opt for canned goods packed in water or items that are low sodium or low sugar.
  • When available, pop-top cans and other easy-open containers help make food more accessible.
  • Buy donations for your food drive at locally owned and independent grocery stores to support your community!
  • Avoid glass containers.

What types of food does Northwest Harvest need?

Please select shelf-stable foods that are low in sodium, sugar and saturated fats. Here are some suggestions:

About Northwest Harvest

We support Northwest Harvest because it provides nutritious food to hungry people statewide and also fights for food justice. “Nutritious food is a human right,” according to the organization.

Northwest Harvest builds partnerships in communities across Washington to get food where it’s needed most. It provides about two million meals each month through a statewide network of more than 350 food banks, meal programs, schools and community-based organizations.

In addition to ensuring access to healthy food, Northwest Harvest aims “to shift public opinion and change policies and practices that perpetuate hunger, poverty and racism.”  The organization advocates for state and federal policies to increase access to food, housing, health care and economic stability.

Northwest Harvest relies on donations. Their food and operating funds come from individuals, businesses, foundations and other organizations. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
