Sad Christmas tree

Is your Christmas tree lying in your yard, looking sad and dropping needles? Help the environment by recycling your tree. Composting facilities will turn your tree into compost or wood chips.

There are a number of options, depending on where you live.

Seattle: Holiday trees, wreaths and greens can be composted for free as part of your curbside yard waste. Details here.

Elsewhere in King County: Options include curbside yard waste collection, community tree recycling events, transfer stations and private companies (fees vary). Details here.

Snohomish County: Drop off your tree at a recycling and transfer station (fees assessed). Details here.
