Fundamentals of Organic Gardening. March 14, 10:00 am-3:00 pm. Good Shepherd Center, Seattle. Want to grow your own food crops but don’t know where to begin? Learn how to start your organic garden, and continue caring for your crops, so you can eat fresh, healthy food year-round. This day-long, 5-hour workshop is an introduction to fundamental organic gardening topics and includes a conversational lecture in the morning, followed by an outdoor, hands-on class in the garden in the afternoon. You’ll leave with the knowledge you need to confidently prepare your beds and start your organic garden from seeds or starts. Sponsored by Tilth Alliance.

All About Pollinators. March 18, 6:00 pm-7:30 pm (webinar). Pollinators help produce three-quarters of the food we eat and keep our ecosystems healthy by helping plants reproduce. Despite their important role in our lives many pollinator species are in jeopardy today. In this free webinar you will learn about our local pollinators, what they need to thrive and the many practices we can implement to support healthy pollinator populations. Key topics will include planting, seasonal care for shrubs, vines, and perennial plants, lawn care, mulching and preparing for summer irrigation. Tilth Alliance March Edible Plant Sale. March 21, 9:00 am-3:00 pm. Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands, Seattle. March is a great month in the Pacific Northwest to begin planting an edible garden to enjoy all year round. At the sale you can stock up on spring plant starts and enjoy the festive event atmosphere. Find Garden Hotline educators in the veggie tent and the flower and herb section and ask us questions about plant care and plant choices. Sponsored by Tilth Alliance.

Introduction to Pruning with Plant Amnesty. March 21, 9:30 am-10:30 am pm. Online via Zoom. Pruning makes sense when you understand the science behind it. You will be introduced to the basics of tree biology and structure, tree responses to the basic types of pruning cuts, pruning standards and best management practices. Sponsored by Master Gardener Foundation of King County.
